Email and IM

Email and instant messaging, the main concept for online communication in communities, emails letting you send larger and longer messages and attachments of up to 25 megabytes. It has proved a great asset to global communication.Instant messaging proving revolutionary to people around the globe!

Blogs Vs Forums

The pros or both blogs and forums.

Blogs- blogs have many qualities, they let you create your own personal space much like Bebo and similar ones of its nature, its aim is to get your views "out there" and broadcast them amongst your established or in some cases not established communities, this way you can help and share problems and be a great asset to those within your community whether it be virtual or not. Its also about having a sense of your own personal website letting you broadcast your own RSS feeds and gadgets of similar nature.

Forums- forums are intended for simple discussions to unravel, and primarily to get voices heard amongst communities, there is no real personal concept, apart from your chosen display name on full view. This idea lets you discuss things on an easier basis with everybody's comments and responses on a constant full view.
Hope this was of interest.

Discussion Forum

Amongst others in my class, I created a forum called "Apple or Android" within this forum a discussion evolved and opinions and thoughts were happily and conveniently expressed. This proved to be a great way to communicate and happily have friendly arguments amongst with peers in the class. There were those expressing the pros and cons of the two mobile device systems. As was thought there was a strong Iphone opposition opposing my thoughts on the superiority of HTC's common Android systems.

Branding-Logo Representation

Branding is one of the most important aspects of any business, without controlling branding your brand and business cant p possibly represent a professional perception. A good brand should be able to produce credible and respectable branding and advertisement.

There are many different brands out there all with their own methods and conduct, following there own codes and conventions.

Branding can consist of advertisements to collaborations with products or brands of a similar nature, for example; fizzy drinks like Coca-Cola end up owning other fizzy drinks like Fanta.

This graphic is the Kit Kat logo, it acts as a neat and professional logo with advertisement qualities.

Vector and Bitmap (comparison)

Vector graphics are not saved as a fixed number of pixels, they are saved as a certain shape and can be maintained to any point of enlargement whereas Bitmap graphics are saved to a certain format where any enlargement causes an immediate loss of quality. For large prints and bill boards vector formats are much better, for obvious reasons bitmap could not be used. Bitmap formats are only safe to be used on a singular size basis!

A bitmap graphic is made up from discrete shaded pixels, which together display the image.

A vector graphic is composed of points, lines and shapes defined by co-ordinates on a graph. The Vector images are images that are made up of many individual scalable objects, these objects are defined by many mathematical equations rather than pixels, this way they always render to the maximum quality. Objects within the image are consisting of lines, shapes, curves and editable attributes. These attributes ones changed will not in fact change the quality of the image but only alter certain parts and will always maintain original shape of the image. This offers great benefits for commercial use, allowing printable Medias to have huge scale graphics whilst retaining quality. Although not as commonly used as Bitmap, this is a great service and offers opportunity for servers in advertisement to blow-up large scale graphics to reach the masses with billboards and large scale animation on the sides of the industrial buildings hustle and bustle cities. When somebody aims to create a vector image they tend use software such as “Adobe Illustrator”, allowing the user to draw shapes and create art whilst still being able to create enlargeable and transformable images without loss of quality when performing these actions. Here are a list of the most widely vector file formats, they are built in software’s and selectively readable by others.
Here is a list of vector file formats:
-EPS –Adobe’s EPS format (encapsulated PostScript) perhaps the most common vector image formats, the most standard interchange format in the print industry, widely supported as an export format.
-AI –The native format of Adobe Illustrator is this AI format, a modified version of the older EPS format, fairly widely used.
-PDF –Unexpected supporter of the vector image format, few software’s allow editing to this format.
-SVG –The W3C standard vector image format called SVG (Scalable Vector Graphics).
-DXF –Drawing eXchange Format. A CAD format from Autodesk, also used by CAD tools from many different vendors.
These entire file types allow enlargement to an infinite scale with no loss of quality, vector images are a great tool for the industry.

Moving on to Bitmap images, Bitmap images are those types of images that when enlarged will certainly lose quality, this is a major con when using such images as when browsing for images there is always a good chance they have already been enlarged. This doesn’t offer any chances for the commercial and printing industry because these images are not as adaptable and editable in programs. These images cannot be used on the sides of products and cannot be used as logos and cannot be enlarged and posted up on the sides of multi-storey buildings. There are many different types of bitmap images consisting of loads of different types of files, the most commonly used of these types of files are JPEG and GIF. Gif files are a strange type of file, they do not maintain image quality but they can offer something much more interesting, any pc will register the file as a still image but they have the ability to act as an animation.

Web Designer-income,charge fee

The Web Designer has a rare title in business growth and is always needed, without the web designer, companies can find it hard and almost impossible to broadcast and advertise their products. This being the case flexibility in a web designers salary can be fairly diverse. Certain companies/websites ask for different qualities of a designer; some ask for a more artistic approach, some more inventive and exciting. In terms of income/salary their are two types of Web Designer; freelance and contracted.

A freelance web designer can be employed from a day to up to two months or even more on a major project, in most situations they are employed from a week to a month with a mixed range of salary.
Salary: Up to £600-£2000 per week (dependent on completion and satisfactory relativity, but over weighing that is the fact that the designer is freelance and final payment is up to him/her)
Salary: £20 - £25/hour (payment can be much more extravagant, up to the design because they are of freelance status).

A contracted Web Designer tends to stay on a more permanent producer-consumer relationship and usually will have a weekly or monthly salary. Ranging from £750 per week and up. This tends to be someone who belongs to the company internally instead of freelance(externally).

Reason for post: This has involvement with my group project where as part of this i wrote up on the salary of a web designer and how much they would charge, hope this information is of use!
